1930 GIRAUD FILS ANTIQUE ODORANTIS POWDER COMPACT BOX - PARIS PERFUME

From Private Collection of Rare Powders and Powder Compacts ODORANTIS  PRESSED POWDER COMPACT pre 1930s GIRAUD FILS ANTIQUE ODORANTIS POWDER COMPACT with ORIGINAL BOX PARIS Made in Fashion of Art Deco   Era of the 1919- 1930s (ART DECO is AN INTERNATIONAL DECORATIVE STYLE FROM 1919-1939) Knows as Le Style Moderne or Jazz Moderne THE SAME COMPACT with OFF-WHITE PRESSED POWDER is ON DISPLAY @ the MUSÉE DU PARFUM FRAGONARD in paris [ 9 rue Scribe, 75009, Paris ] ACCORDING TO THE ATTACHED AD, the COMPACT was made by GIRAUD FILS ( FRENCH PERFUMER) between 1928-1930, the attached AD is from 1930 (not for sale) Giraud Fils launched t he Odorantis brand in the late 1920s in collaboration with Volupte, and he named his 1st Pressed Powders: Odorantis (see 1930s Ad) The power case measures 5.5 cm (2 1/8 inches) in diameter. The upper paper-mache lid designed in gold and violetta Art Deco pattern. The interior reveals glass mirror in gold-metal frame and gold paper-mache powder well.  At the base of mirror inscribed:  J p Giraud Fils  PARIS over gold-leaf metal and French paper- mache (of that exceptional old quality). The powder well contained the original white pressed powder in striped pattern that is separated on one side from the rest, (the larger part is still in the powder well).  The powder well is covered with unused original puff with J Giraud Fils inscription , and is in pristine antique condition for its age. The base is in gold-leaf paper-mache, inscribed: ODORANTIS in Rachel Fonce J p Giraud Fils (in monogramed pressed logo) Made in Paris The compact comes in its 1930s original box, that is shows a very light shelf wear at the base, the upper lid designed in a flapper style without clasp, however, its closes well, t he box is inscribed with 1800   COMPACTE ODORANTIS J Giraud Fils, Paris, France Jean Giraud et Fils was the Parisian perfumer who inherited business from his father, who designed perfume senses  and essential oils in Paris in 1900s for the upper class clientele Providence: unknown 1960-1990 private collector (RI) 1990- 2020 private collector (NYC) 2020-2023 in the Collection of Art Studio From Smoke Free Environment
