In Paris, France, Antoine Pinay, former Minister of Transport, is shown on the minister's bench in the French National Assembly before he made his appeal for a vote of confidence. Pinay won endorsement as premier by a vote of 324 to 206. Twenty-seven representatives of the DeGaulle party disregarded instructions of their own caucus by voting for Minister Pinay.
