London - The White House, giving its kitchen staff a strong vote of confidence, denied, February 22nd, that it tried to lure away Viu Vam Han, famed chef of the French Ambassador to London. It issued the turnabout statement after first announcing that Viu Vam Han a favorite of the international set, had been asked to consider "an offer to join the White House kitchen." The chef, shown February 22nd at work in his kitchen at the French Ambassador's residence in London, was quoted as saying he received such a bid and turned it down.
